I have been sitting by the front door all morning as I’m waiting for an Amazon package. However two UPS boxes somehow made it to my front door without my knowledge. Drivers for UPS must be ninjas

Tweaking my technique for making the bread.

Was playing “The Wall” today on the house stereo; the children got upset. This is an odd development in parenting.

I know we don’t do likes on this platform. However, I would really like a quick way to say: “I saw your post, it made me feel some feelings that were positive”. Could we get like an agreed upon emoji string or something if we’re not going to do “likes”? @macgenie @manton

My new “dad” move is to assume my children’s use of text abbreviations is some random nonsensical phrase. So, I spell it back to them with a question mark or something. This has proven to be highly effective in irritating them. My current favorite is “FTW” = “Fry the Walrus”.

A little bit of the tropics in my own back yard.

It is hard for me to pick up a book 📚 for a second read. My inner voices yell about all of the books I haven’t picked up for a first read yet. But, there are a small number of books (fewer than ten I’d wager) that I have read five or more times.

I call this one: Dog on a Couch

I don’t consider myself a great cook, but I CAN follow instructions. This is my Jamie Oliver Cajun Sweet Potatoes with garlic infused yogurt.

Quote from a book I’m reading “One of the chief obstacles to intelligence is credulity, and credulity could be enormously diminished by instruction as to the prevalent forms of mendacity”. Bertrand Russell wrote that in the 1950s but it feels relevant.

The problem I have with a lot of “life hacks” is the little voice in my head screaming “that is not how that was intended to be used”

Spouse and most offspring are away for the week. However, I haven’t had to resort to eating my own leg yet. In other news, cooking for one is not what most cookbook/portion sizes are designed for.

A letter in every box and I’m pretty sure that it’s even the correct letter in every box.

A picture to help cheer up @macgenie

Apple Music decides to introduce me to Tyler Childers today. I’m enjoying the music.

Racing the clock to get these finished before my little, baby child moves to Minnesota.

More fresh bread from the oven. The bread has tasted fine for a while, now it’s starting to look nice as well. I’m definitely going in the right direction

Beginning to learn Dutch on Duolingo (in case I need to flee the country; also trying to use the metric system more). Should I be concerned that all the only foods are bread, water, juice or apples?

My first view of Mont Blanc in my life.

A Jacquard loom with Ada Lovelace’s punchcards. I’ve never seen one in person. Here is one in Lyon

I’m glad to have orchids that are reblooming. I just wish I knew better what I was doing to make them happy. It all still feels like magic.

Early bird, out here looking for a worm.

Bright yellow flower on my walk this morning.

My talks for 360iDev were all rejected this year. It hurts more than I would like to admit and kicks my impostor syndrome self-talk into high gear. Oh well, maybe next year. Anyone know of iOS conferences that are looking for speakers?

Three years ago, today, I decided I was tired of the lack of dog fur on my stuff and we brought this little waif home. This is just after she came to live with us. Now, she has put on 20 pounds and she finally appears to be housebroken. Happy Adoption Day, Mattie.
